Episode 60: Joe LaPinta

Joe LaPinta is a professional poker player who won the recent WSOP circuit event at Harrah’s Atlantic City. Of course it takes more than just a tournament victory to score an appearance on the Thinking Poker Podcast, but Joe is also an active member of the Tournament Poker Edge community and an avid podcast listener. In fact, just a week before his victory he was at the Nitcast Meet-Up at the Borgata.

It turns out Joe has a pretty interesting story as well. Not even a year into his career as a professional poker player, he’s already experienced tremendous success and luck. Neither seems to have gone to his head, though, and Joe proves to be an entertaining and gracious guest. If you’d like to get to know Joe better, you can follow @Joesmoe87 on Twitter.

  1. Listened to this on repeat as I went to sleep, let it run all night, and listened a couple more times this morning. Very inspirational. I love how grounded Joe is. Such a good role model.

  2. If you are keeping up with these comments, Joe, I just wanted to say congratulations and it was great to meet you in AC. I remember thinking that it was great a good guy was part of the biggest BBJ and I feel the same about this tournament run. Nice work!

  3. thanks to Joe I am changing my poker goals: I now want six figure score not for down payment on house but to get interviewed for podcast

  4. Simply what makes TP one of the best poker pod/blog around. Charming insight to a cool human being. Not all poker pros have to be a Brat or a Mouthy degenerate. A great role model. Great that your parents were there. When I was 17 and hit the road to become an actor my parents were at a total loss. But as soon as I started getting seen and making some nice scores it was “well you know who he got his talent from”. I am happy for them as well as you for your success.
