Strategy

This is from a NLHE home cash game. The blinds are $0.50/$1.00. I have about $500 and would guess Villain had just slightly less.

The hand starts 10-handed and villain opens from under the gun to $4. I am next to act, and look down to see 7-7 and just call.

A few others players call so we’re 5 to the flop of JJ7 rainbow. Villain leads out and bets $15. I call, everyone else folds, so it’s just the two of us to the turn and we have a pot of approximately $51.

The turn is a J. Villain now bets $30. I call, so now we have $111 in the pot and effective stacks of ~$350 each.

The river was a 7. Villain bets $50.

  1. You guys may have good mics, but Kristy’s audio rig is objectively superior. Maybe she can provide some gear tips for podcasters?

  2. Really enjoyed that “everything that’s wrong with live satties in 10 minutes or less” segment. There’s really not much one can do. I probably got colluded against in the $10k satty that took place a couple days before that $25k satty but didn’t speak up. Why antagonize someone who will _at least_ berate me when I can fold my way to a seat? Why be upset that a guy who’s been playing spewy in this $1k satty now gets a chance to play spewy for $10k?

Maybe live venues should try changing the satty structure to something like awarding the seat and taking stack out of play once a player gets to 10x starting. That probably has its own set of issues.
