As recently discussed on the podcast, Gareth Chantler has recently been working with displaced Syrians in Turkey. He’s going to be raising money on Twitch this Sunday, and I encourage you to watch and/or participate in the fundraising (which is not require to watch). Here are the details he sent me:
What: I will be playing the first day of SCOOP (as well as playing cash games) on live twitch stream. My ceiling for the day is to make $5,000 USD that will go towards bringing a refugee, a personal friend of mine, from international limbo in Turkey, to Canada, where he can restart his life.
How it works: If I make $4,999 on the day, I’ll be putting 100% of that money towards his cause. If I make $50,000, I get to greedily keep $45,000 of it. What a life!
We’ll be tracking my cash game winnings and my tournament profits throughout the day. Come be a voyeur, come be entertained, we can talk about poker strategy, have fun, and do whatever it is that twitch streamers do. It will be a long day and I have forgotten how to play poker, so entertainment is going to be rife.
Donation options: Any method you’re willing to donate by should be available. Not all methods of donation will go to the same place, (ie I can’t personally accept credit card payments). But I can guarantee each method of donation will go to help Syrians in need.
