Episode 199.5: Mississippi Grinding

Matt Sienkiewicz, a professor at Boston College and Episode 103 guest, co-hosts with Nate. They compare the poker movie MISSISSIPPI GRIND with Nate’s recent trip to Biloxi. They also discuss a strategy hand and some colorful opponents from Nate’s victory in a preliminary event from the Million Dollar Heater.

Matt’s new book, which you’ll hear a bit about, is The Other Air Force.

  1. WD Nate.

It appears Mr. Grizzle’s rectal diameter was increased following the hurt you put on him with K3c. More room for horseshoe(s)!

  2. Ironic that the podcast guest stereotypes Southerners as being bigots. Stereotyping others is itself a form of bigotry. He admits he’s never spent any significant amount of time in the south. That makes him prejudiced against Southerners.

    • Thanks for the comment. I grimaced a bit at that as well. In Matt’s defense, though, he did admit his lack of experience and acknowledge that his preconceptions probably weren’t fair. As human beings, we all engage in stereotyping all the time. The best we can do is try to recognize and minimize it.

  3. I don’t know about Major League 3, but Yvette is a great movie similar to what they were describing about Minor League baseball: Bull Durham. If you like baseball and movies and you haven’t seen that one check it out. It’s a bit older, came out in 1988
