Episode 358: Carlos Wins a Bracelet

Carlos Welch is the latest player to win a WSOP bracelet, thanks to a late-night victory in the “Crazy Eights” event on WSOP.com. Just hours after the victory, he shares his excitement and reflects on the path that led him here.

Carlos first appeared on the show eight years ago, on Episode 39. It remains one of my all-time favorite interviews.

Use discount code “Carlos” to get 25% off Exploiting Small Stakes Tournaments, in which Carlos teaches Andrew his best tricks for winning the most from weak opponents.

How To Obliterate Passive Tournaments is Carlos’s exploitive classroom and quiz style course with Alex Fitzgerald. Normally $399, it is currently on sale for $99.

Support the podcast and get daily strategy segments from Nate, Carlos, and Andrew by subscribing to the Thinking Poker Daily patreon.

  1. Carlos! So happy and excited for you. I am one hundred percent with you on the GTOx bandwagon. I too was one of the first subscribers too. The Blueprint. Congratulations!

  2. Congratulations Carlos, You are really worth it! It has been a pleasure to follow You and the podcast! I’m just back in poker after many years, and will join on Patreon when they verify my account, at the moment I don’t get the mail from them, but we will fix this problem soon.

  3. So much time has passed since we first met over Chinese. You are such an inspiration not only in the game itself but in life. You, Andrew, and Nate are the most perfect you can get to pure humanity. When I met the 3 of you I did not know how you can proceed in life and battle with grace and dignity. May you not only win more bracelets but overcome anything that stands in your way.
PS I loved your comment about not playing the ME. Man that made me so happy. Most would be jumping at the chance but like most deep thinkers you know the value of reality and how it differs from fantasy. And this is from someone who had a piece of you the last time you cashed in the ME! I love you man.

  4. Congrats on the big win! Starting as being fan taking pictures of the players you love to being the winner of WSOP is just inspiring. Love to hear your journey!
