  1. I mean this in the nicest way. Nate really needs to learn how to use the mute button. It’s really not that hard and this is yet another episode with him being completely unaware of how damaging his background noise is to the recording. It raises so many issues around his professionalism but please don’t have him on the pod before he is well situated and ready to go.

    • I agree this was a poor showing by me. Some of it was just a mechanical error (my thinking I was muted when I wasn’t). Some of it was poor preparation.

  2. The Democrats can put as many foot soldiers on the ground as they can indoctrinate in America’s universities, but if Trump shows up in person then the state is out of reach. But why make podcasts on this subject? America is split down the middle and all you are doing is alienating the significant number of people who listen to and enjoy the poker chat but who loathe and distrust the left. Everyone knows your political views. You couldn’t hold any others, given where you grew up and who you work with. You would be ostracized completely if you were to even question the DNC’s motives or agenda and might even put yourself at risk of physical harm, in the current climate. Stick to cards. We all like it when you talk about that.

    • JH–

I’m honestly grateful that you took the time to comment. I also worry I’m not expressing myself clearly, if that’s what you think of my politics!

      More poker material coming soon.

      • None of this really explained our politics, that wasn’t the point of the show. While I also appreciate the feedback, and fully expected that plenty of people wouldn’t like this episode simply because it wasn’t about poker, I don’t think this episode is about my or anyone else’s political views. In fact, I took pains to ensure that it would not be. It was a conversation about strategy and tactics, many of which are also used by Republican candidates. In fact, I regret a bit that we didn’t get a chance to talk about differences in how the parties use data. I think there is some interesting material there, though possibly none of us was qualified to address it.

  3. I’m a massive fan of the show but I’m about half way through this episode and the background noise has really ruined it thus far. I do intend to persevere, perhaps more out of loyalty than anything else, but honestly it has made it a tough listen.

To end on a positive note: I repeat, I’m a massive fan of the show, thanks guys!

    • Thanks for the kind words, and for your perseverance. If you browse the comments here, you’ll find an apology from Nate. We’re going to be better about this!

  4. Wow! I wasn’t even going to listen to this one but seeing the reaction it sounds like dynamite! And Avid Listener, and anyone else dissatisfied with the “quality” and Nate’s “professionalism” might care to be reminded that this is, in fact, a free podcast?

    • You can let me know what you think, but I don’t think there’s anything explosive about it. I think a few people just got triggered by the mention of Beto and probably didn’t even listen to the show.
