  1. I listened all the way until pocket fours and I enjoyed it thoroughly! Thanks to Carlos and Nate and all of your high profile followers. Good to hear Andrew and Nate discussing the pivotal hand. I perked up when I heard the mention of Yoga Nidra. It is even more than you described. It supposedly helps us to overcome our blockages or psychic knots. Congratulations to Andrew on a good run and on the book!

  2. Nodding in agreement over fear of describing one’s bustout hand. I failed to semibluff raise a flop in a key spot, that led to being short stacked. Just couldn’t pull the trigger.

  3. Andrew, I wanted to congratulate you on your performance in the main event. I was really excited to see your name near the top of the leader board for days… Honestly, the fact that you can make mistakes and broadcast them to the world is actually very comforting to us mere mortal players. I’m actually reminded of a comment by Chris Ferguson that I think gets taken out of context a lot. He said to just play your best cash game and you will do well in tournaments… Now, someone as mathematical as himself was definitely considering stack sizes and antes during tourneys. Now, I know you claim it just as a grand mistake, but even with a read, I am wondering if it can ever really be winning poker if one is willing to call off about a half of a stack on 2nd pair bad kicker on reads or gut feelings… I was interested in the fact that you didn’t want to play JJ after a 3 bet especially when you are in the cutoff (would be interesting to know opponents stack sizes in relation to yours). Considering JJ after a 3 bet or calling a raise with J6 (in BB) could both be considered high variance, is there anything that would make you think that the latter would allow you to realize your post flop advantage vs opponents more of the time? I just feel that there are so many flops that if you are floating out of position that just seems like non-winning poker… Even with money in the plot, the positional disadvantage of the blinds just seems so high to overcome with bad cards… Good luck with your book as well!

  4. Though I can’t point to one study I would pretty shocked to find that 10-15 minutes of medium to high intense exercise (more than fast walking) after each day (or perhaps in the am) of poker isn’t a huge plus to staying fresh over a week. Clean out all the “stress toxins” and jump start the system. I admit not the exact thing people feel like doing after a long day but probably worth the effort.

  5. Amazing run, Andrew, and kudos for being so up front about your thinking processes in a (big) hand and situation even when it turned out to be a mistake.

    • Finally caught up with this episode and was moved to tears a few times (mebbe the beeers) because of the emotions of hopes, stress, busting, and gratitude for support during your ME run… The precarious state of tournaments and Nate’s unwavering support (‘glad i met u in 2011’) really spoke to me and anyway thanks for all the content that you put out including the book and cheers. J

  6. Great episode, especially loved the ‘post-mortem’ aspect to the discussion. It’s also refreshing to hear players talk about decisions they’re not happy with as I feel this reveals far more about their actual thought process. But, and I realise I’m probably in a minority of 1, but please can we cut back on the Carlos love-in? When the discussion spent 10 minutes talking about how great he is, I actually threw-up in my mouth a little bit (not literally, just quoting the internet kids).
