I didn’t recognize this guy’s name, but he was playing a full stack on several tables and had pretty reasonable stats, so I assumed he was a decent player. He has position on me on all our tables and had been re-raising me a lot, so I’m looking to trap him on the flop, figuring him to have either one pair or a draw. I really think this is a bad spot to check-raise me with air, because against a guy who calls pre-flop out of position, I’m not betting this flop with just anything. That means I’m calling his check-raise with both draws and hands that beat him, and in general he’s not going to know what to do on the turn.

The A didn’t make me happy, but I really didn’t think it would help him, unless he had the nut flush draw. I’m probably better off checking it through, but there are a lot of rivers that it will be tough for me to call. I wasn’t happy when he check-raised all in, but I was getting big odds, and my hand looks like a draw, so he could be on a worse pair than mine. Bah.

This clown was the reason I was at this table. In a reraised pot in a blind battle, with so many strong two pair hands possible for him, I think it’s OK to get the money all in even on this turn, but maybe not against his sketchy-ass check-raise. I dunno though, with a hand that’s possibly good and has outs, I don’t really want to just call when so many rivers could improve hands I’m beating now. Bah.
