  1. I guess in hand 1 you’re assuming that he wouldn’t check back a draw on the flop very often, so the 5 shouldn’t really have helped him and he doesn’t have an A often enough for you to fold?

Hand 2 is pretty sick 300BBs deep. I’d be interested to hear why you called him down there. If I felt like my hand was good and I wanted to risk 300BBs I’d probably just c/shove on the turn. There’s a lot of hands he could have that have some kind of draw, so you should win quite a lot from getting him to fold those or from putting him in a spot where he has to make a call with a draw because of the pot odds he gets.

    • Hand 1: Exactly. I don’t think he checks many draws on flop, if he does he usually has a pair so isn’t betting when an Ace turns, and I don’t expect him to value bet Aces on this river.

Hand 2: I actually didn’t think my hand was likely to be good on the turn. It was a crying call in hopes that Villain was overplaying some worse overpair (he was an unknown, which as you know are rare and usually not very good at these stakes). I was planning to check-fold a lot of rivers.

I also don’t think he takes this line with many draws. Given that he could make a big, pot committing turn bet, I don’t see why he’d set himself up to get put in a tough spot by a check-shove instead. I’m looking at turn as a way ahead/way behind situation, and I don’t think any of the hands I was way behind are shoving this river.

If I lost on the river, I was expecting it to be to 97, outside chance of T9.

      Good questions!
