Pwning Leatherass

Many of  will have heard of this guy Leatherass, who plays just an absurd number of tables for an absurd number of hours every day. He plays pretty big stakes, mostly 5/10 and 10/20, and while he’s not one of the better regulars, he probably makes more than just about any of us because of his insane work ethic. This is the guy who offered on his blog a long explanation of the economics behind his decision to pee into a bottle while playing rather than leave the table to go to the bathroom. Not that I’m about to start doing the same, but I actually thought his reasoning made some sense.

Overall though the guy is pretty annoying on and off the tables. I’ve never met him, but stuff I’ve read from him on his blog and on 2+2 makes him seem pretty whiny, delusional, and self-absorbed. At the tables, he’s annoying because he’s one of the worst offenders when it comes to sitting out the second a fish leaves the table. I’m not the most diligent about starting games or playing against tough competition to keep a game going, but LA sits out and/or leaves the table whenever a fish sits out, even before the fish actually leaves the table. When a fish returns to a game with a bunch of people sitting out, even if he doesn’t realize that everyone is waiting for him to come back, he still may decide to leave just because he doesn’t want to play short-handed.

I always take a special delight in outplaying him (not that it’s that hard, since he’s playing so many tables). Here’s one from today:

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold’em, $10.00 BB (4 handed) – Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

Hero (BB) ($2004.25)
UTG ($1025)
Button ($1087)
SB ($1767.25)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 6, 4
1 fold, Button bets $20, 1 fold, Hero calls $10

Flop: ($45) 9, 6, J (2 players)
Hero bets $29, Button raises to $100, Hero raises to $255, Button calls $155

Turn: ($555) 7 (2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks

River: ($555) 3 (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $135, Hero calls $135

Total pot: $825 | Rake: $2

Results:
Button had Q, 5 (high card, Queen).
Hero had 6, 4 (one pair, sixes).
Outcome: Hero won $823

All because he’s too much of a nit to 4-bet shove a flush draw with an overcard to the flop.

  1. Don’t see how that can be a good thing, peeing into a bottle. Seems like sitting on your butt for hours would just cause fatigue, never a good thing while gambling. Better to be alert and on your toes once in a while, no?

  2. You know you’ve gone too far when you pee into a bottle. I mean seriously, peeing. Into a damn bottle. Let alone making a damn blog about why it is okay? Way to crush the bottle pisser.
