  1. If villain manages to show up with a winner (say Td 9d) in hand #2, do you level the same criticism at your own play with KK?

    • Ya, like Chris said, there’s a huge difference here between KK and TT. I’m not good 100%, but I’m plenty good enough to get it in. That’s just not the case with TT. In a 4-bet pot with deep stacks, the size of your overpair matters a lot, and running into a better one isn’t just an unavoidable cooler.

  2. Hand 1 – yeah clearly bad

Hand 2- yeah I guess it’s pretty bad too, although i’m not sure what’s the best line here.

I don’t mind the C/R to try to win a free sd, although the c/mr is prob not the way to do it, and then compounding the issue by bet/calling hoping ur spazzing is really optimistic.

I’m thinking c/c turn and c/f river might be best as played. C/F turn seems kinda meh.

    • Min-C/R out of position is not going to win him a free showdown. I think he should either check-fold flop (I did cold 4-bet, after all) or check-call flop and check-shove most turns if he thinks my range is weak enough for that. I think c/f turn is best as played. He really isn’t in good shape at all vs. my range at this point.

  3. Hey Tce,

I’d say that’s being results oriented. The only 9x hands in villains range are T9s, 98s, and A9s, which is 6 hand combos – and it’s not clear that he’d 3-bet them all pre-flop, and call a 4-bet if he did.

If he’s ever going to overplay TT, JJ, QQ (which together comprise over 18 combos) we’re clearly a favorite vs his turn calling range.

I’d say he maybe gets to the river turn with 3 hand combos of 9x, meaning he only needs to overplay TT/JJ/QQ 1/6th of the time for a shove to be +EV.

If you add 50% of the AA combos he gains 3 more value hands, but still, he doesn’t need to overplay TT/JJ/QQ more than half time time to be a favorite vs his calling range.

  4. I play NL50 and would bitch slap myself if I couldnt fold in hand one. Insane to go stack off that deep with one pair.
Andrew in hand two what PP is your cut off hand? TT and JJ seem like fairly easy folds but how about QQ? Im not sure but would you ever expect villains to slowplay AA and KK pre in this spot?

    • That is a tough question. I don’t think I’d stack off with QQ if I were Villain. The thing is that if I (Hero) have TT-QQ, I’m not betting it again on the turn. So QQ is actually going to have about the same equity as TT-JJ vs. my bet-calling range.
