WCOOP Event 22: $500 NLHE

I was really kicking ass in this thing, had twice-average stack of 150 BBs approaching the bubble, and then it all went to shit in about 25 hands. This was the first one that took a big chunk out of me:

Hero checks, MP2 bets t8800, Hero raises to t102186 (All-In), MP2 calls t26283 (All-In)

River: (t86679) 5♣ (2 players, 2 all-in)

Total pot: t86679

Results:
Hero had A♥, J♦ (one pair, Jacks).
MP2 had 10♣, 10♠ (three of a kind, tens).

The guy actually tanked before calling, and I was convinced I was good. I don’t think it was a deliberate slowroll. He probably gets my stack if either T turns, but this was obviously the gin card for him.

I’m not so happy about this one. I think the river is very foldable in retrospect. I told myself that my hand doesn’t look like an A, but I don’t think that matters. I think 56 and 67 are in his range as well as boats, so there’s really a lot I lose to. Still a shitty river.

Then I shoved my last 13 BB’s from UTG+1 with KQ and the BB snap-called me with A2o. Like, I can’t even tell you how much he didn’t think about it.

So played nearly 9 hours in this thing just to bubble it. Overall played 13 hours today. Would love to take tomorrow off but there’s the 4-max starting at 9AM!

  1. Andrew,

Re the 1st hand – just seems like a cooler. The are so many draw combos as opposed to sets in his range, and since he only has a pot sized bet left- I dont see how you can either fold or call. Shove seems the only option.
Do you ever see a situation where you get away from this on the turn ie fold or call? For instance, would it make a diff if this was day 1 of the ME?
