  1. great content as usual.

it’s funny when Nate asked if there’s any 2/5 reg would float OOP with two players behind to act. I guess that’s probably why hero described him as “annoying”. lol

  2. Hey Thinking Poker fans!

I just wanted to let y’all know that the podcast’s late release this week was entirely my fault. I’ve picked up some work lately and have been burning the candle at both ends, so to speak. No excuses, just an explanation — and I wouldn’t want any blame to be tossed in AB or NM’s direction. Hope you enjoy(ed) it nonetheless, its a good one :).

    • I think you’re feeling immoderately guilty about this. The podcast gets edited on time far more consistently now than it did when I was editing.

  3. Guys,

You’ve built great equity in this Thinking Poker brand. Be careful not to toss it away with silly piefarmer content. You both are kind to include my comments on your great show.

Listening to your take, I have to agree. My prediction should have been about the progression of backing, not its ultimate form.

    Thanks for more great content.

    Russ

  4. Great podcast – I enjoyed that a lot – thanks, as ever, guys. Purely out of curiosity, it would be good, if possible, to get a link to – or further details of – the controversial pot Nate mentions in the 50k tournament last year.

  5. Thinking Poker Fan from ‘Adelaide Australia.’ Guys really enjoy all the strategy discussion… I have been a break even player for around 12 months on micro stakes, discovered your podcasts and through further study, investigating and developing my game which has in large been through the Thinking Poker site; my bank roll has tripled over the last month…

Especially liked the strategy discussion / book review with Ed Miller; interview was great… Not that I can find, ‘Playing the Player,’ anywhere in Adelaide – I need to get my hands on that book!!!

    Thanks for the ‘great’ content…

    Cheers from down under,

    Mike…

    • Mike,
Pretty sure you can get all of Ed’s stuff from his website. If he won’t ship to Australia, you might opt for the digital versions. I use them and enjoy them.

  6. A few things:

    1. Just wanted to thank you for the podcast.

    2. I want to note that podcast being late doesn’t make a difference to me, and I’m not sure it matters to anyone else (if anyone cares, holler up). I get them when I get them. I can understand why it’d be significant for you guys: having a clear deadline improves productivity in various respects. But I doubt the readership (well, the listeningship) cares.

    3. Is there a way to donate money to the podcast and/or its individual creators? I’m really enjoying it and would pay for it if you charged. (I’ve already been rating most episodes five stars in the iTunes store)

    4. Nate was mentioning some one-hour hand in a WSOP where play was stopped and they had to pull Jack Effel out of bed. My Google must be defective today, as it failed to find that hand for me. Any ideas on where to look?

      • I guess sports might be kinda different. People seem to care about getting sports news promptly.

Thanks for tracking down the links, Gareth!! I have to admit this hand is way more prosaic then it sounded when Nate described it :). Abe Mosseri is one of those people who seem way more credible when you just read the transcript of what they said than actually listen to them. The opposite is true of Nikolai Yakovenko (who everyone keeps referring to as “Google”, rather than just “Nikolai” or even “Nick”).

        • FWIW Nikolai was the Russian whose 3-bet set up my 4-bet that resulted in my getting stacked with AA vs a flopped set in the 3K shootout. I can tell you that he is definitely convinced that he got screwed on that ruling. I have no idea whether he’s right or not, but I don’t think he was just trying to shoot an angle or anything. His sense of injustice is quite genuine a year later 🙂

  7. I’m one of the people who does like to know when the podcast is coming out – often I’ll have a big task at work on a Thursday morning and I like to be able to plug my headphones and listen to the podcast while I work, so if it’s late and I can’t do that then I’m a little disappointed.

That said, you guys are providing awesome content every week free of charge, so to actually *complain* about when you get it online would make me feel like a massive a-hole. I’m just massively grateful you do what you do, and I’ll listen to it whenever you guys decide to put it up there.

    • Thanks, Chris, it’s great for us to hear how the podcast fits into your schedule, and we’re sorry that it hasn’t been fitting as well recently. It’s not complaining, it’s valuable feedback, and we’re taking it to heart. Thanks for listening!

  8. I am sure Nate and Andrew are too modest to suggest ways of donating money for a ‘labor of love’, but if you google Andrew you can find Boston Debate League he was part of (founded maybe?) and that seems like a pretty good start. Cool idea even if Andrew was NOT part of it.

As for Nate? Hmmm…. pick up the check for coffee whenever you see some young guy with a cap getting carded, early in the morning with TWO Venti coffees playing Video poker at the casino bar?

    90% chance it’s him.

    which

    • Thanks!. I was the founder of the BDL, and as such I’d be very grateful for any donations anyone were to make to them. I can vouch both for the quality of the programming and for the efficiency with which your money will be spent. You can make a donation and/or learn more about the organization at http://www.bostondebate.org/give.
